What Does LCD Stand For? |

LCD stands for liquid crystal display. Liquid crystal is a polymer layer. The polymer molecules are properly aligned by an electrical current or electrodes. There are three states of matter: a solid, a liquid or a gas. Solid matter will retain its molecular orientation by staying in the same position with respect to other molecules. In contrast, liquids can change their structure by moving in the liquid. However, some odd chemicals can act like a liquid and a solid. These molecules stay in a solid state yet exhibit liquid qualities of flexible movement. Liquid crystal is one of these odd chemicals. It has a liquid property and a solid (crystal) property, as well. | |||
